Boromir was the eldest son of the steward of Gondor. Boromir disliked the idea of destroying the One Ring as he believed it could be used to defeat Sauron once and for all. Boromir tried to take the Ring by force but Frodo managed to escape his advances. After this scuffle, a horde of Uruk-Hai came and mortally wounded Boromir with several arrows after he tried to repent his earlier actions and rescue Merry and Pippin.
